1 month stats
Just a quick update on my big boy. We had a pediatrician appointment this afternoon and Max gained nearly 2lbs and is now 10lbs6oz and grew an inch to be 22" - go, big boy (I'm so thrilled about this, because he has tongue tie, but is able to breastfeed pretty well, apparently! We're going to see an ENT about it and get their opinion on the necessity of getting it fixed soon, but it's not urgent) Kiddo got his Hep B vaccine and is super cranky now, poor baby!

1 month old!!
Baby Max is 1 month old today! HOW did that happen? This was seriously the fastest month of my life. I don't know if it's because I'm so much busier with two kids than I was with just Sasha, but wow, it just flew by!
Max is such a sweet baby - he rarely cries, unless he's hungry or something is bothering him. He's perfectly content to hang out and look around, but loves being snuggled with me or his papa. He adores his big sister, in fact, he was smiling at her like crazy tonight! He still won't take the pacifier, which isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. He nurses like a champ (I'm so happy I'm able to breastfeed him, it never worked out with Sasha and I had to pump, it is just so much easier - and lot more enjoyable - to nurse the baby!) We do give him bottles at night, just because that generally gets him to sleep for longer stretches (he can finish the bottle before he falls asleep, whereas when I was nursing him, he'd fall asleep right there, without getting enough, we think) He still wakes up a couple of times a night, but sleeps in the morning, so I can spend some one-on-one time with Sasha when she's home.

She's really so proud to be a big sister!
These two are the pictures that Sasha took, she really wanted to be a part of the "photo-shoot"

Baby's first outing
I'm paranoid about a lot of things. Germs around newborn babies is one of them (yes, this is my second, but I'm still the crazy mom who makes everybody wash their hands when they come near Max and has a bottle of hand sanitizer nearby at all times) So we've actually waited this long to take him somewhere public. Yesterday morning, we decided to go to breakfast and we had such a great time, little man slept the whole time!

A real smile!!
Max smiled for the first time yesterday. One of those real, looking-at-you-and-smiling-not-because-I'm-gassy smiles! And he smiled at me! Sasha's first smile was totally daddy's, so I'm pretty excited to get a first smile from the little guy (she also said "papa" way before "mama", we'll see if Max does the same thing). Just wanted to share (or brag, same thing).

Grandma's here, part II
This week, my mother-in-law was here helping out. It's been nice to have the help and company (although, next week, the reality of having two kids all by myself will set in). Grandma did some projects with the big kiddo and helped her take care of her "baby", went for walks and to the parks (where I predictably forgot to bring the camera), loved on the little kiddo, and read to both of them!

Weekend
We had a very very relaxing weekend (which is, surprisingly, possible with a new baby!) We built a chair (ok, Z built a chair, but Sasha and I helped), went to the park, played (a lot!), and gave Max his very first real bath.
Big sister performing her big-sisterly duties
So, I just realized I don't have any pictures of the fabulous chair Z built on my computer, so I will share those as soon as I can get them off my camera and his phone! Stay tuned!

Grandma's here!
Z was home for 2 weeks after Max was born, which was so wonderful. He spent a ton of time with me, the kids, and in the yard finishing the patio railing (for when we open the pool for the summer). Then my mom came to stay for 3 days to help out (which has been amazingly useful, especially with Sasha!) She's leaving tomorrow morning and I will miss having her around, although I'm looking forward to my very first day alone with the boy - Sasha heads back to school tomorrow.
Grandma let Sasha eat her oatmeal straight from the saucepan!
Grandma and Sasha trying to console fussy Max
When Sasha was going to bed tonight, she told my mom "I'll miss you, grandma, but I'll see you soon, ok?" I was thinking something along those lines as well.
