Little monkey

Look what Miss Sasha did today. All by herself! She went from sitting on a swing to pulling her legs in and swinging that way for a bit to standing in the swing. She's such a little monkey.

Look at that concentration

She was very proud of herself

There was some definite mommy-mocking too!

Weekend recap, with pictures

We had a very busy weekend, but so much fun! Friday (since everybody had a day off), we visited papa's aunt in upstate NY for her birthday. Sasha's little cousins were there too, and those four had a blast hanging out together. Sasha even got to climb stairs (since we don't have any in our condo, this was her second time on stairs) and she did so well!

On the way there, Sasha showing off her brand new teeth!

Her cousin Jonathan kept wanting to hug her the entire day - it was so sweet!

Big cousin Daniel was all over her too!

On Saturday, we visited papa's grandma and grandpa in the morning, then headed to my parents' house for a little barbecue. It was as always delicious!

On Sunday, we went to the beach with our friends Jennifer and Rob and their adorable daughter Meredith. They brought with them a kiddie pool and the girls had so much fun hanging out in it, chewing on each other toys and splashing around. I love Sasha's little watermelon bathing suit, it makes me smile every time I see these pictures!

Love this picture of Sasha and me - just look at how happy she is!

My silly girl was tired after such a long and busy weekend!
Hope everybody had a great weekend celebrating, barbecuing, relaxing, and spending time with their families.

10 months old!

Ok, one day late, but Y has been playing with the camera (and doing some pretty cool stuff to it) late last night so I never got a chance to get the pictures onto my computer. Here they are, enjoy!

We're now less than 2 months away from her big first birthday, so we really have to start making some plans for her party... Sasha now has 4 teeth (the latest one is the top left incisor, that just popped through). She babbles all the time. She loves crawling away from me so that I'd chase after her; she crawls, stops, sits and looks back to see that I'm following, giggles and continues crawling away; it's such a fun game. She now stands by herself (whenever she feels like it of course) and when she needs to get back down, she lowers herself onto her butt very slowly and gracefully. She has recently discovered our tupperware cupboard in the kitchen and loves playing with foil (hon, if you're reading this, we need to babyproof that ASAP!!) She's starting to get how some of her toys work, especially the ones that make noise/play music, she doesn't just idly chew on them anymore, she presses buttons, steps on them, etc. We've started introducing more finger foods to her, her latest favorite is raspberries from grandma L.'s backyard. She's so much fun!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July! Hope you all had a wonderful and safe day celebrating. We had a lovely day, very low-key, just hanging out with family and barbecuing. And coincidentally, I got my passport in the mail just yesterday. Just in time! Weekend recap and pictures coming later.

She stands!

Sasha's been standing here and there for a few seconds for a couple of weeks now. But today, she crawled over to where I was sitting, stood up holding onto me, and then let go! She stood there long enough for me to praise her, get up to grab the camera, take a couple of pictures and praise her some more. Look at her face! She was so proud of herself!

She's really been on a roll these past few days! I wouldn't be terribly surprised if she skips walking and just starts running one of these days. We're not ready yet! Slow down, baby girl!

Mamamamama!

Miss Sasha's finally saying mama! Seriously, she's been saying papa for the past couple of months, so it's about time she started saying mama, no? Granted it's mostly still babble, but she just decided to keep saying it over and over all day yesterday and today. So cute!

And this one, well, this one is just priceless: I say "mama" and of course Sasha says "papa".

Sasha "walking"

This girl does not stop amazing me! This morning (after weeks of playing with her doll in the stroller), she finally got up and walked with it! It is seriously the cutest thing!

And on a different note, we booked our first vacation sans baby last night! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. While I know she'll do great here with her grandparents and auntie Anna (who have graciously agreed to watch her while we're gone), I know we're going to miss her terribly! But I also know that it'll be so good to just get away for a few days and relax. Ahh, Mexico, here we come!

Beach trip and some random cuteness

A couple of days ago, Y took a day off work and we decided to venture out to Long Island to visit Jones Beach. It was gloomy outside, but since it was dry, we thought we'd give it a try. It was very nice (if you don't count $8 for parking and the uber-overpriced food, who do they think they are?!) and there were barely any people there, so it was nice and quiet.

Yesterday, we met up with another mommy and her adorable baby boy Jess, the kids seemed to enjoy each other's company and we, adults, sure did too!

Last night, I made Sasha some mac and cheese for dinner, she seemed to really like it!

"Mmmmm, cheesy"

Sasha's latest favorite toy is the ribbon attached to my birthday balloon!

Father's Day in pictures

As promised, some pictures of our first Father's Day weekend! And yes, my child is uber-talented!

Sasha made daddy a painting! It was really messy but loads of fun!

The end result. Y is taking one to work, I think, and the other we'll frame and hang up somewhere, aren't they so cool!?

She also "posed" (and I use that word very liberally) with a big sign that says "I love daddy"

I think he liked it!

"See, papa? I made this for you!"

Not the greatest quality photo, but it's cute, because I said "Sasha, kiss papa" and this is what she did, we love big open-mouthed kisses!

They played for a bit

Then Sasha helped papa open his present

We went for a walk in a local park...

Oh, yeah, I was there too ;)

Happy Father's Day!

Just a quick note to say happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! We had a nice quiet day celebrating with papa, Sasha got him some presents - she made a painting for him, I think he really liked it. I will post pictures tomorrow, but just wanted to wish everyone a happy Father's Day!
